‘Kill Bill 3’ Still A Long Way Off; Quentin Tarantino To Do A Western Or Gangster Movie
  |  @   |

At the end of last week, Quentin Tarantino proclaimed that there was definitely room for a Kill Bill Vol. 3 in the world (Read: Is Quentin Tarantino Armed & Ready To Make “˜Kill Bill 3,’ Possibly 4?). Naturally, when the highly-popular director makes claims like this, his fans go absolutely insane, but have trouble knowing if there’s truth to it, or if it’s just talking in the moment. Whether we actually get to see Kill Bill 3 or not, one thing is now known for sure: it is still a long, long ways off.

While in Mexico promoting his latest film, Inglourious Basterds, at the Morelia Film Festival, Tarantino went ahead and confirmed his hopes to make more Kill Bill movies. This is a great sign that he was being truthful, and that we will one day see the movie. But when? He went on to explain that his plan is to give star Uma Thurman and her Bride character’s daughter B.B. (Perla Haney-Jardine) ten years to recover before getting back to the cutting, hacking, and slashing. This would sadly put us in around the year 2014 before we saw the sequel. It also means that we will very likely get the storyline where Vernita Greene’s (Vivica A. Fox) daughter comes after the Bride for killing her mother, and young B.B. will now be deadly dangerous herself, setting up a battle between daughters.

So what is Quentin Tarantino going to do before getting back to Kill Bill? Apparently he wants to do a new re-imagining of a genre movie in the area of either Westerns or a 1920s or 1930s-set Gangster movie. If you follow his work, you know Q.T. loves Spaghetti Westerns, and has used their themes and music in his movies, so that seems to be the safest bet. On the other hand, a movie like Public Enemies, The Untouchables, and The Roaring Twenties would certainly be an interesting world to explore for him.

Personally, there’s just not enough Westerns anymore (side for the recent spurt of great ones); and to see Quentin Tarantino make one, with all of his love for movies like The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and with his unique vision…that would just be way too amazing to pass up. I wants it, and I wants it now.

Would you want to see Tarantino make a Western, or would you prefer to see him tackle old school gangsters?

  2. Honestly I would much rather him take the time and do both a western and a gangster movie than to see another Kill Bill

  3. Um, he kinda already made a western. Check out Sukiyaki Western Django directed by Takahashi Miike. Pretty sure he produced that one; he certainly cameos in it.

  6. Well, it is Tarantino. So whichever film he does, we will basically be getting the same film.

  8. A tarantino western would be a dream come true!! Gangster would be cool, but Scorsese and others have done it to death. I say make both, but the Western first….oh and put Ian McShane in it! God I miss Al Swergen
