R2-D2’s Appearance in ‘Star Trek’ Discovered
  |  @   |

R2-D2, it is you, it is you!

Gizmodo has discovered the location of the hidden R2-D2 in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek.

Check out the cropped image here above of an R2-D2 floating in space during one of the battles, and head over to Gizmodo to check out the full hi-res image.

George Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic did the visual effects on Star Trek, which will be released on DVD/Blu-ray tomorrow, and they oftentimes like to insert the iconic Star Wars droid into their work. (They did it in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen as well — see here.) It’s a cute little Easter Egg for us nerds.

Aside from the fact that this is clearly R2-D2 in the screenshot, Gizmodo reports that they confirmed the appearance with one of film’s sequence supervisors from ILM — the same person who debunked their previous guess (what they thought was R2 was actually a shuttle).
