New Image Gives Clear Look At Josh Brolin As Jonah Hex

Jonah Hex Poster

A brand new image from the adaptation of graphic novel Jonah Hex has been released online. We had seen a couple of images from behind the scenes, and we’ve seen the first not-so-well-designed one-sheet from the movie (seen at right — we don’t want Gone in 60 Seconds; we want gritty, dark old west graphic novel goodness), but this is the first large and clear look at star Josh Brolin as the deformed 19th century anti-hero in full Civil War gear.

The movie follows Hex, a veteran of the Confederate army whose face is terribly deformed. After the war, he concentrates his talents into a life of work as a bounty hunter. No exact details are known on what storyline the movie will take, but there is a synopsis below, though it does hint at things that have been denied like John Malkovich as Quentin Turnbull unleashing “Hell.” This could refer to a rumored storyline where Turnbull goes voodoo and forms an army of the dead which director Jimmy Hayward denied at Comic Con.

Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone”¦and anything. Having survived death, Jonah’s violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the “other side.” His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah’s past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can’t refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah’s oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead. Based on the legendary graphic novel, “Jonah Hex” is an epic adventure thriller about one man’s personal quest for redemption against the vast canvas of the battle between good and evil.

Hex also stars Megan Fox as Leila, a prostitute and love interest; Michael Shannon (Bug, Revolutionary Road) as Doc Cross; Michael Fassbender (300, Inglourious Basterds) as Burke. The movie’s director, Hayward, has only directed the animated feature Horton Hears A Who!, but has also worked as an Animator on Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug’s Life, Monsters Inc., and Finding Nemo.

Jonah Hex will be released on June 18, 2010.
