Aquaman Swims Again In ‘Brightest Day’
  |  @   |

The end of DC’s Blackest Night is fast approaching, and with the end of one story comes the beginning of the next [read What Happens After Blackest Night? “˜Brightest Day’].

Now, we’re starting to get more information about that next story, Brightest Day. Today on DC’s The Source blog, the company released an image that will have fans of a certain undersea monarch jumping for joy (check it out here at right; click for larger full view).

The cover for Brightest Day #2, drawn by David Finch, shows what looks like a reborn Aquaman, sporting his classic look, and facing his own shadow. Brightest Day co-writer Geoff Johns expounded on what Aquaman’s appearance means for the upcoming story.

“‘Brightest Day’ is about second chances. I think it’s been obvious from day one that there are major plans for the heroes and villains from Aquaman to take center stage in the DC Universe, among many others, post-Blackest Night. “˜Brightest Day’ is not a banner or a vague catch-all direction for the DC Universe, it is a story. Nor is “˜Brightest Day’ a sign that the DC Universe is going to be all about “˜light and brighty’ superheroes. Some second chances work out”¦some don’t.”

Does this image mean that the end of Blackest Night will bring a return of not just Aquaman, but many of the other DC Heroes that have been killed off in recent years? We’ll just have to wait and see how the series ends.
