With ‘Scott Pilgrim’ Done, Edgar Wright To Resume Work On ‘Ant-Man’ Script
  |  @   |

MTV caught up with popular British director Edgar Wright recently and placed a couple of feelers out on the status of the feature film adaptation of Marvel’s Ant-Man.

Wright explained that now that he has a little more time after finishing work on his comic book adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, he can go back to Ant-Man and continue writing that. The director also clarified that this project is no high-priority film, and that patience will be required in waiting for it to come along down the road.

I can’t do two things at once, so [now that ‘Scott Pilgrim’ is finished] I will return to doing another draft of that one.

Because that character isn’t one of their biggest properties, it’s not like a tentpole deadline; it’s more like me and Kevin [Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige] [saying], ‘Let’s make a really good script.’ We’ve always agreed on that “” ‘Lets make a good script that works, that’s all about
a great genre film, and that isn’t necessarily relying on anything else.’

It should be a great genre film, so that’s why I did a first draft.

This isn’t the best news for all fans of Wright’s work. He is of course best known as the director behind Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Fans of those movies (such as myself) undoubtedly want more films along those lines, and with stories like this and Wright’s popularity soaring, it could be some time.

And in keeping with his great sense of humor, Wright was sure to clarify that he can’t say too much, especially when it comes to Marvel:

I cannot confirm or deny anything. I’ll get killed.

It’s snipers, they’ll kill me!

All-in-all, there is certainly a lot to look forward to if you’re a fan of Edgar Wright or if you’re the man himself!
