Imagine This: Rainn Wilson As Captain America Sidekick Bucky
  |  @   |

Twitter was all abuzz yesterday with the news about possible actors in the running to play Steve Rogers/Captain America in Marvel’s live-action The First Avenger: Captain America movie [read Want To Know Who’s In The Running To Become Captain America?].

One candidate for the main role is John Krasinski, who plays the sarcastic jokester Jim on the NBC television series The Office. Krasinski has already branched out to the big screen with rom-coms, but can he handle a superhero role like this? That’s the big question.

With the controversy of Krasinski’s possible casting, GoD contributor Bad Monkey of Blogography tweeted that if Krasinski gets the gig, his Office co-star Rainn Wilson should be Cap’s sidekick Bucky Barnes. Of course, this was met with plenty of hate, so for all those who scoffed at his suggestion, BM decided to have a little Photoshop fun to show us what Wilson as Bucky would look like. Check out the image here at top right and click for larger view.

BM whipped up the image while stuck on a “a boring 40-minute conference call” using Wilson’s poster for his film The Rocker as the backdrop and posted it to his Flickr account, so he stressed to me that this was all just for fun. (BM happens to be an amazing artist, so given the time I’m sure he could have went to town on this).

I loved the Rainn Wilson as Bucky image, and while I couldn’t picture him in the film for real, I could totally imagine Wilson’s Office character Dwight — a bona fide geek — showing up for work at Dunder-Mifflin in this Bucky costume. Right? C’mon, remember all those Earth Days he came to work as the robotic recycling superhero turned destroyer Recyclops? (see video below).
