Has Jamie Foxx Joined Bruce Willis For ‘Kane & Lynch’ Movie?
  |  @   |

As a video game, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men wasn’t the most popular ever to be developed. It also didn’t help at all that the team that made it is the same team responsible for the eternally popular Hitman game series, which hasn’t offered us a new installment in far too long, much to the dismay of its many fans.

Even in the mediocre showing of Kane & Lynch, a movie based on the game has always been in the works, with superstar Bruce Willis attached to star as Kane for just as long. Willis’s involvement went from expected to confirmed back in October, but we’ve wondering since then who would be playing the role of Lynch.

According to screenwriter Kyle Ward, we now have an answer to that question, and that role will be filled by Jamie Foxx.

Ward seemingly announced the casting on his Twitter account, saying which was then deleted. Unfortunately for anyone who didn’t want this to be known, it was seen and reported by many outlets not long after.

I personally only played a couple of hours of the game before giving up on it. The story was there, which is why a movie isn’t a terrible idea, but when I reached a certain level in a crowded nightclub, it was decided that the gameplay was a tad too unstable for my own preference. In the time that I did play, I was able to get a good intro to the characters, and while Willis seems like a great fit for the movie, Foxx doesn’t make much sense to me at all. Billy Bob Thornton was rumored to be up for the part for a while, and he would be a much more fitting actor for the part.

Kane & Lynch tells the story of a death row inmate called Kane who, along with a completely psychotic inmate named Lynch, breaks out of prison. After the breakout is complete, the two fugitives are taken to some evil men, one of which is Kane’s former best friend. These men tell Kane that he has three weeks to recover and return what he stole from them, or his wife and daughter will be killed.

It’s because of the odd way that this news has made its way around the web and the not-so-fitting casting that I wouldn’t be shocked to hear changes to this report eventually. But for now, this is where the flick stands! It looks to me that Ward’s Tweet say something along the lines of “Done deal…Jamie Foxx is in,” but I’m not sure if it was specified as who. Could Foxx instead be playing one of the villain roles who promise to kill Kane’s family if he does not cooperate?

Kane & Lynch is set to be directed by Simon Crane, and a release date is not yet known. When Willis was confirmed, the plans were to begin production this month, but that could have been pushed back a bit by now.

  1. Great, this is the same thing with Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent. It’s wrong people, just wrong. There are plenty unknown actors out there that can handle this part. Plus, it’ll cut doen the budget too. Think about it.

  3. This has nothing to do with racism, but why TF is Jamie Foxx playing as Lynch??? Isnt Lynch white? Isnt Jamie Foxx black?
Ok so I guess if they make another Blade movie, they should put Van Damme as the actor for Blade. I wasnt a huge fan of the game play for Kayne and Lynch, but they are the 2 biggest, baddest bad ass non-fiction characters I know of, and funny as hell when they argue lol. If this goes through, Im not wasting a penny on the movie.
