Comic Fans Will Be Able To ‘Make Mine Marvel’ On Their iPads
  |

Marvel has thus far not been shy when it comes to releasing their comics digitally. They have digital comics available through a subscription model on their website and they also have them available through a number of apps on the iPhone/iPod touch (ComiXology, iVerse, Panelfy, and Scrollmotion). If you’re curious what the experience may be like, check out the upcoming iVerse app.

The comics giant will be further expanding their digital initiative with the launch of an iPad app. The Marvel App will be separate from the iBooks store and will be able to display full pages or be zoomed in using a panel-to-panel style similar to many of the current iPhone and digital reader apps. Besides those details, we don’t know much about the content that will be available on the app.

The iPad hits stores this Saturday (April 3) and I will be first in line to get one. Bring on the digital comics revolution!

  1. I’m 31 now and as I’ve gotten older, I find myself more interested in the stories than in the “collecting”. 20 years ago and at $1.25 each, I’d rather have the comic book in my hands. These days, even at a decent salary, it’s hard to pony up enough disposable income to justify $2.99 and $3.99 per book on a regular basis. And the biggest problem my wife has with my collection is how much space all the comics take up. This announcement just made the iPad desirable and if DC (and everyone else) would jump on this bandwagon, then I know what I’m getting for my birthday!
