As you all know, Twitter is this crazy world of conversation, networking, and instant information. I’ve personally seen countless great videos, pictures, and articles thanks to the site, and this time around it has lead me to a particularly interesting concept.
The website is called Kickstarter, and it allows independent filmmakers, musicians, writers/authors, and all kinds of different artists to present their prospective projects and a goal amount of money that they need to reach in order to finance it. This is where we come in; each project’s page has a list of donation amounts from a single dollar to $50 to $5,000. The more you pledge toward a certain project, the more you can get in return. Most of the projects offer you a copy of the finished product or even a “special thanks” in the credits. Everyone likes seeing their name in the credits of a movie, right?
Click on over to the other side to learn about a movie you can help get made right now!
I was lead to Kickstarter by a filmmaker named Gary King via his Twitter account, who’s currently raising funds for his film How Do You Write A Joe Schermann Song. The movie is a musical of sorts that requires $30,000 to get moving, and currently sits at $23,408 with only 3 days left to reach their goal. I was so intrigued by this very cool concept for filmmakers to collect funding that I jumped at the chance to help out.
The movie tells the story of an aspiring Broadway songwriter who finds himself struggling to find success while fighting to keep a hold on his life and relationships.
If you’d like to help this independent movie get made and maybe get your name in the credits and a copy of the movie before it’s even made, check out the widget below and go check out the site for a video about the project!
There you have it — a cool new site where anyone can go and help cool new indie projects get made and get rewarded in the process. And no worries: if you back one of these projects and it doesn’t reach its goal, you will not be charged for it.
Be sure to go check it out and help movies like How To Write A Joe Schermann Song become a reality!
It’s really good you posted this.
I used this site a couple of weeks ago for a friend’s film.
Also, Indie GoGo is a good site like this one too as far as funding films.

We are doing the same for a Horror film at Indie GoGo
http://www.indiegogo.com/Lurking-Under-Life
the project is a more suspense filled horror ghost story than more recent gory horror films. Please have a look.
