Victoria’s Secret Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley To Replace Megan Fox In ‘Transformers 3’

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

They don’t appear to be wasting any time on the Transformers 3 front. Geek Week has the scoop from a trusted inside source that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, a current Victoria Secret’s model, is set to replace Megan Fox as the love interest of star Shia LaBeouf‘s Sam Witwicky.

The news broke just this past Wednesday that director Michael Bay had decided not to bring back Fox after some turmoil had been brewing between the two. Not long after those reports broke, Fox’s camp was claiming that it was she who had done the departing because of the relationship with Bay, so we may never really know. Personally, it’s hard to think that Megan Fox, despite her current level of fame, would pass up the pay day that was sure to fall into her lap for one more robo-alien turn.

Many fans were elated at the removal of Fox, who quite bluntly hasn’t been popular among movie going faithfuls since her arrival. Unfortunately, it’s not clear that this casting choice will sit much better. Huntington-Whiteley has absolutely zero acting experience in her career, and one can’t help but think that this might be a message that these types of movies CAN make or break a career, as they made Megan Fox’s.

I personally don’t like it. I was really hoping for a complete 180; I wanted to see that adorable, girl next door-type actress cast over someone brought in just for their looks. I was thinking more along the lines of a Carey Mulligan (maybe not exactly her, but along those lines) and not a Jessica Alba. Huntington-Whiteley seems like a manufactured beauty and not a naturally-appealing beauty. Nevertheless, it appears this is where we stand.

What do you think about the Megan Fox replacement?

  1. This is just typical. Tits n teeth just doesnt cut it, especially for transformers fans. She is a worse choice than Fox.

  2. Let’s face it, what can you do to make the Transformer movies worse than they already are? First you have Fox with that incredibly challenging dialog. Now they are replacing her with an underwear model. Who knows, maybe she can act. Stranger things have happened.

As for Fox I can totally understand how those scripts were too much for her. How can a girl remember “SAM!”. That would stretch anyone’s acting skills.

  3. I think they should have gone with someone that adds more than just eye-candy to the movie. Maybe someone like Emma Stone or a cardboard cutout of Fox that is occasionally left in precarious situations and screams random phrases.

I don’t go to see a Transformers movie expecting to see top-tier acting and Oscar worthy performances. The problem really is when the acting gets to be so bad at times that it starts to pull you out of the movie*. Then you have a problem that no amount of giant robots and explosions can fix.

*Not going to touch on the story.

  4. @Curt Moreno: From what I gathered it wasn’t that she thought the dialog was hard (though I know that was partially sarcastic), it was that she had a run-in with director Michael Bay.

@Demonstrable: I’m with you, they just need to find a placeholder that can stay along for the ride, possibly add some flare, and drown out in the sounds of Cybertron.

  5. I’m a little on the fence about this. On face value, it seems like a bad choice.

But, throughout cinema history there are stories of people who have had no previous acting experience, stepping in front of a camera and doing an incredible job. I can’t think of any examples right now, but lets not count her out just yet.

Also, I’d like to see the girl-next-door type as well. But just because she’s some stunning underwear model, doesn’t mean she couldn’t fill that role. With the right presentation, any gorgeous woman can be given that look.

  6. so what that these women can’t act, take away the special effects and you’ll realize that Bay can’t direct……………….

  7. Is she replacing Fox but playing the same character? Or is she playing someone completely new?

  8. Probably a new character. I hated Fox’s role in the second one, she was just basically there for guys to pay to drool over her and honestly they aren’t good enough movies to make me care about her coming back.

  9. I’m relieved that Fox is not coming back. Having an avid movie fan for over fifty years and an actor for about ten of those, I’ve seen great acting and every level below that. I never got the whole “who’s going to say I love you first” thing or how it was supposed to move the plot along. But, you gotta love Sam’s parents :).

  10. oh, and another thot… If we but recall, Optimus died trying to save Sam… Sam who had turned his back on the whole thing to begin with… Sam who, if he had manned up and accepted some responsibility instead of wanting to party hearty at college, would have been under Autobot’s protection to begin with… When Optimus thanks Sam for coming back for him and all Sam can come up with is a very arrogant “you’re welcome” instead of something like… “well, you died because you had to come save me from Megatron”… whoever wrote those lines at the end of the movie… should trade in their Screenwriter’s Guild card for a 1960’s vintage Roger Maris card… (am I being too harsh here?)

  11. He wanted Fox to gain weight cause she was too skinny for the role yet he wants to hire someone just as skinny? Right…..that makes sense. This stick figure is taller than Shia too..thats gonna look great… wtf.

  12. eh… vad bad choice… i was hoping someone along the lines of Emma Stone. You know… at least someone who can act. I dont expect much, but this almost hurts my feelings. ;)
