Now comes word that Bloom has indeed accepted the offer and will be in the film. The actor will actually play a villain in the very smooth Duke of Buckingham, who intensely-rivals the Musketeers and their rebellious ways.
Also new to the cast is James Corden (Planet 51, Gulliver’s Travels), who will be playing a servant named Planchet.
Bloom is of course best known from his roles in two of the biggest franchises of all time: as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and as William Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Bloom has also appeared in titles like Black Hawk Down, Troy, Elizabethtown, and Kingdom of Heaven.
The impressive cast also includes Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief) as D’Artagnan; Ray Stevenson (Rome, Punisher: War Zone), Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans, Immortals), and Matthew Macfadyen (Robin Hood, Frost/Nixon) as Athos, Porthos, and Aramis; Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds, The Green Hornet) as Cardinal Richelieu; Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, King Arthur) as Rochefort, and Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil, The Fifth Element) as Milady de Winter.
The Three Musketeers is set to film soon, with a summer of 2011 release date currently planned.
