Spoiler Talk: Killers

Guy_Jen   |

KillersWell here comes another romantic comedy, which seems to be the style nowadays. That’s right Katherine Heigl, who plays Jen, and Ashton Kutcher, who plays Spencer, bring you Killers. While this film did not necessarily bring a whole lot of new things to the genre, if you enjoy this type of movie, you will probably enjoy this as well.

While Killers was a by-the-numbers kind of movie, it was still a pretty fun popcorn flick, especially with the extremely beautiful Heigl involved. I definitely feel that the movie had a decent supporting cast to add to the two big names as well. When you add in Tom Selleck and Catherine O’Hara as the Kornfelt’s, Jen’s parents, this definitely makes the movie a lot more charming.

Throughout the movie you get a lot of fun action and some pretty decent laughs, but where the movie doesn’t come all the way together is in the execution of both of these genres to their full potential. The action scenes are not as spectacular as they could be and the comedy is definitely not as funny as it could be. The script just doesn’t seem to have been fully realized, which is a shame considering how charming the cast is.

Anyways enough of the chit chat, let’s jump right into some SPOILER TALK! The following are my thoughts, sprinkled with spoilers and you should all put in your thoughts about the movie by stopping by the comment section.

SPOILERS

WARNING: If you have not seen Killers, do NOT read any further. There will be SPOILERS below.

-Wow we get to see an overly drunk mother which is a total original character and has not been overdone in any way.

-Well apparently all that matters is looking skinny at the beach no matter what the cost, even if the cost is sitting in your room puking the entire vacation. Good parenting skills, Mrs. Kornfelt.

-When Jen said she needed to find the right dress, I was thinking it would be a very weird fashion choice, but wow, she really picked a nice dress and I would not mind taking her out to dinner wearing that dress. I could probably even deal with the awkward robot voice.

-How could you not be weirded out by the guy you are trying to get with whipping out a hunting knife? That should have been the first clue that something was odd about Spencer.

-Does everyone have to wear a pair of aviator sunglasses? Is this some sort of product placement or does everyone really love that style that much?

-I was a little confused as to how much time had passed and it didn’t help that Jen had a haircut and style change so immediately. Just think a nice indication of time passed would help.

-OOOOH! Louis Griffin is in this movie. Or you could say Ms. Swan even.

-I am not really sure how far into the future they go, but it seems like an awfully quick promotion in a completely different career for Spencer.

-Sex is apparently a language. Interesting. If this is the case, how do you say hi, a blow job?

-I love that they have a weird slutty neighbor and a guy that passes out without his pants on their couch and that doesn’t even bother them. I mean I understand having odd friends, but there is a limit to social awkwardness. I guess they are both just extremely accepting of weirdness. Jen’s parents obviously don’t really worry about it either.

-I love that the first person revealed to be an assassin seems like they would be the most incompetent of all their friends. Even the slut seems like she would be better suited to the job of assassin.

-Wow they really must hang out with some slutty people because that guy having a fungus and swollen balls is pretty bad. I mean he isn’t that good looking so how would he score that much to worry about that kind of stuff? Really the big question is why would you ask for help from a friend when dealing with that kind of stuff?

-Man, watching these car chases makes me want to watch Fast and the Furious or play a Twisted Metal game or something.

-Who wouldn’t have performance anxiety? I hate when people talk to you or try to look at you when you’re using the restroom. It’s like, where do you draw the line? There should be some form of privacy in the world and the bathroom is the one place where that should hold true.

-Well if you want some security measures apparently the best thing to do is hang up some deer antlers that way you can impale the attacker with them. By the way, that was fraking awesome.

-Sorry Kutcher but you cannot ever pull off the Selleck ‘stache, but you can definitely pull of an awesome baby nursery.

Your turn… What did you think of Killers? Was it a better offering than The Back Up Plan and Letters to Juliet? How does it compare to the other movies this summer? Is Ashton Kutcher appropriate for an action role?
