We learned at the Green Lantern panel at the San Diego Comic-Con last month that every Green Lantern Corps member would be shown on the planet Oa in Green Lantern. But what Oan citizens will show up in the upcoming Warners Bros big-screen adaptation?
According to Comic Book Movie, the character of Krona will make an appearance in Green Lantern, which stars Ryan Reynolds in the title role.
Krona will be involved in a scene that features another character from Green Lantern lore named Parallax (the panel also yielded the news that Parallax would be in the film). The scene is reportedly Earth-based, but what Krona’s involvement with Parallax is is unknown at this time.
If you don’t know much about the Green Lantern universe, let me fill you in on this important character not only to the Green Lantern saga, but to the DC Universe itself. First appearing in the comic book series in the mid-1960s, Krona was a scientist on the planet Oa, which is where the Guardians of the Universe reside and give out orders to the Green Lantern Corps. Krona went back in time to creation and in a freak accident his machine exploded and thus the Multiverse and Anti-Matter Universe were created. Because of his actions, the Guardians transformed Krona into a form of pure energy, left to roam the Multiverse.
We still do not know how the character will fit into the Green Lantern movie, but no matter how big or small the role is in this film, it will likely be a vital element, and maybe even set-up for possibly future DC universe films.
