Must Watch: Teaser Trailer For The Coen Brothers’ ‘True Grit’ Has Arrived
  |  @   |

The announcement of Ethan Coen and Joel Coen making a new adaptation of the Charles Portis novel, True Grit, was exciting to all fans of movies.

We’ve heard plenty about the movie along the way, but the real joy would only come when we saw the first trailer. That day has finally come. Paramount Pictures has released the very first teaser trailer for all to see, and it’s just as good as we’ve all hoped.

The trailer shows that this new True Grit — which is not a remake of the 1969 John Wayne movie of the same name, only an another adaptation of the original book — looks like it could be a fantastic new western movie, and it definitely shows off some of that Coen Brother tone. It also shows off some great cinematography and the expected strong performances of its impressive cast.

Be sure to click on over to the other side for a synopsis and to check out the trailer now!

Now, the only thing left to see is if True Grit is going to be flat-out brilliant, or if it’s going to be 90% brilliant and then pull another patented Coen Brothers middle finger non-ending, as has been too common as of late. That’s the fear. All we can do is hope for the best.

Fourteen-year-old Mattie Ross’s (Hailee Steinfeld) father has been shot in cold blood by the coward Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), and she is determined to bring him to justice. Enlisting the help of a trigger-happy, drunken U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), she sets out with him — over his objections — to hunt down Chaney. Her father’s blood demands that she pursue the criminal into Indian territory and find him before a Texas Ranger named LeBoeuf (Matt Damon) catches him and brings him back to Texas for the murder of another man.

  6. Glad to see its not a remake and apparently the Coen Brothers seem unable to make as bad movie.

    Christmas can’t come soon enough.
