Marvel Sends Spider-Man, Thor, Wolverine & More Into The ‘Tron’ Universe
  |

Tron and comic book fans can rejoice because this winter Marvel is going to the Grid with their Tron variant covers.

Starting in November with Thor #617 the covers will feature characters as they would look if they were in the world of Tron. While these covers will have nothing to do with the content of the books, they are still pretty cool looking. This is one of the first signs from the Disney-Marvel partnership that started last year, the other being the two-issue mini-series Tron: Betrayal which was released earlier this month. The mini-series follows Flynn and the birth of his son Sam. It also shows CLU taking over the Grid and the bond between Tron and Flynn.

We here at Geeks of Doom love these covers, and we have the cover images below for you the readers to check out and comment on.

Marvel has only unveiled ten covers but there may be more on the horizon as the movie draws closer to its December release date.

All of the covers are really cool looking but the one that really stands out is the Secret Avengers #7 variant that has Moon Knight throwing light discs. While Marvel has always done different themed variant covers for their books, this is one of the most unique campaigns out there to promote not only the Disney-Marvel partnership but to also show how awesome these characters would look if they were on the Grid.

  1. An interesting idea that seems to fall short. It appears they just put outlines of color on already colorful costumes. Some of them (Thor) do not look good at all.
Now Iron Man kind of lends itself to the idea; shame they didn’t choose the characters better.
Still kind of neat though (did i just say neat).

  2. Iron Man, Quicksilver and Spiderman look pretty cool! Their costumes really lend themselves to the Tron treatment pretty well. I think they could’ve done better with Thor, Captain America and Moon Knight. Ms. Marvel, Spider Woman, Ghost Rider and Wolverine look cheesey though. Wolverine with glowing light claws? Weird! I think Venom could’ve looked pretty good as a computer virus(maybe) and I would’ve liked to see what they could do with Storm, Dr. Strange or even Green Lantern (just kidding about that last one!)

  3. I fully endorse that Moon Knight variant, but some of the others could be better.

  4. I don’t mind them actually.

Didn’t Marvel have their Celestials (Arishem & Co) with a “Tron” look a while back?

  5. Let’s do a Big Lebowski sequel set in entirely in the Tron universe.

  6. This is exactly what I feared would happen when Disney bought Marvel. This is such crap. Next thing you know, they’ll be doing Pirates of the Caribbean covers next spring.
