Last year, Disney premiered Prep & Landing, a half-hour television special about an elite unit of Santa’s Elves known as Prep & Landing.
Walt Disney Animation Studios is planning to bring the unit back in a 7-minute animated short called Prep & Landing: Operation: Secret Santa, with Betty White as the voice of Mrs. Claus.
Prep & Landing: Operation: Secret Santa will air on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) during the holiday classic A Charlie Brown Christmas. Both programs will repeat on Thursday, December 16 from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET.
The original Prep & Landing was the first television special produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and premiered last December.
Aside from being from Disney, which is enough right there to get me to check it out, the original Christmas special also had Dave Foley as the voice of Wayne, one of the elite elves, and Foley is back for this new adventure! I totally loved the first Prep & Landing and was hoping by now it would be out on DVD, as I think it’s a great holiday story that I’d love to see every year. I actually still have it saved on my DVR (luckily!), and have watched it a few times already, so I’m really looking forward to this follow-up. I only wish it was longer than just 7 minutes.
Synopsis
Operation: Secret Santa was written and directed by Stevie Wermers-Skelton & Kevin Deters, produced by Dorothy McKim, and executive-produced by John Lasseter. This “Prep & Landing” “stocking stuffer” short film follows the comic adventures of Santa’s stealthiest elves, Lanny and Wayne. With Christmas only a few short days away, Mrs. Claus, voiced by Betty White, and Magee, voiced by Sarah Chalke, enlist Wayne, voiced by Dave Foley, and Lanny, voiced by Derek Richardson, on a secret mission to retrieve a mysterious item hidden deep within Santa Claus’ office! Can the intrepid duo acquire the target in time, or will they be discovered by the Big Guy, voiced by Morgan Sheppard, and doomed to placement on the Naughty List?

My DVR doesn’t even come with a lot of space to begin, so it’s a big deal when I save something on it for a long period. I loved this special so much that I knew I’d want to see it again and again, and it didn’t look like there were any plans to release it to home video, so keep it I did and shall continue to :)

Wow.. I’ve saved things on my DVR for a long time, but I don’t think I’ve closed in on a full year ;P

I loved this show too. Thanks for the update! I was hoping for another 30 minute special this year. Too bad it’s only 7 minutes.
