Watch Now: New ‘Dragon Age 2’ Trailer
  |

Bioware has released its first look at Dragon Age 2 game play with the Rise to Power trailer. You can view it here below.

I’ve been looking forward to seeing game play since the release of the cinematic trailer some time ago. This is usually where I first start to decide if the game will be a “must buy” or not, depending on how the game play looks.

Right now, I’m still on the fence. The game play looks good, but definitely not great. The opening sequence in the trailer just looks choppy. Not what I would have expected for my first glimpse of what the game will look like. The quality seems to get better as the trailer goes on, but I just can’t get over the first sequence. The trailer makes up for its somewhat lack of image quality with something else, blood, and there is a lot of it here. Hopefully that translates over to the game. Who doesn’t like chopping limbs of orcs and other creatures?

Some of the other animation does look solid. Looking at the spell casting in particular, it looks great. Hopefully they can sure up some of the other animation to be as good before the game is released, they have plenty of time.

While I’ve said before that I feel that this isn’t a true sequel to Dragon Age: Origin, it is shaping up to be a game that is much more my speed. Peep the trailer below and let us know if it is making your must buy list.

Dragon Age 2 will be released on March 8th, but pre-order by Monday, November 1 and get a free upgrade to the limited edition.

  1. I hope bioware doesn’t dumb it down too much like they did with Dragon Age 1. looking forward to this new combat system that they’ve been talking about though.
