Bryan Singer Confirms Hugh Jackman/Wolverine Will Not Be In ‘X-Men: First Class’
  |  @   |

There had been a rumor running around that Hugh Jackman had been spotted on the set of X-Men: First Class and that he might be in the movie in some capacity, but this has now been shot down.

Speaking to TheGeekFiles, former director and current producer Bryan Singer set the record straight, making it very clear that “He’s not in the movie, he’s in the Wolverine movies.”

For those who don’t know, the movie will tell something of an origins story. It will focus mainly on Professor Xavier (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) when they were much younger and close friends before their differences of opinion saw them traveling separate paths.

The movie will be set in the 1960s and will feature many historical figures. Singer spoke about the timeline of the film, saying “We’ve set First Class in a time when the X-Men were conceived in the early 60s, up against political events that were happening – the early civil rights movement – and we have these kinds of events at a time when the world didn’t know mutants existed.”

We all know Wolverine was around at the time the movie was set, and who knows, maybe they’re slip a cameo in to surprise us. Aside from that though, I think it’s best he not be in First Class. This movie is all about new faces presenting the mutants at their roots, and it should live or die on that without looking to familiar faces for a boost.

What do you guys think, is it a good move to keep Jackman and his Wolverine out of X-Men: First Class?

  1. He’ll be there, just as a weird, computer-generated slightly younger version of Hugh Jackman.

  2. Personally, I am really jazzed to see some new mutants. Sure the backstories of the actual “X-Men” were interesting, but with the limitless imagination we’re capable of for coming up with new mutants and their powers, I want to see what else is out there; what could’ve been; or how others started.
Alright, yes we get that Wolverine is awesome and I as a woman would never miss a chance to see Hugh and his “Jackman” in tight pants, but let’s move on and see if there isn’t another awesome mutant characters for the public to gush over.
Deadpool is definitely a character I am anxiously awaiting to see more of . . . the REAL Deadpool and what he went through to become as twisted and splitminded as he is now :-D

  3. Can they make X-men movies that aren’t totally about Wolverine? Are they allowed to do that?

Wolverine is the Boba Fett of Marvel. I get it. They’re badasses. That does not mean we have to want them in every piece of related fiction that comes out.

  4. Glad to hear that Singer is back on board, at least in some capacity….unfortunately X3 & the Wolverine movie were so mediocre that I find it difficult to kindle even the vaguest desire to see this “First Class” film…
