Torchwood + Lightsabers + Puppets = Your WTF Geek Pic Of The Day
  |

The other night, after Tom Cheredar and I finished recording TARDISblend 17, we were talking about some random Doctor Who stuff off-air. One of the things that came up in our ridiculous ramblings was, “What Doctor Who needs is some Muppets.”

It was just a mildly amusing joke at the time, but a couple days later we came across this unexplainable image posted over at the Hell Yeah Tumblr Page featuring the cast of Torchwood meeting the puppets from Avenue Q… with lightsabers! See the image here at right.

Quite simply? This is awesome. The next step is someone to Photoshop in the glow from the lightsabers.

For those who haven’t checked it out before, Torchwood is the television series that is a spin-off from Doctor Who. It features John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, a former companion of the Doctor, who heads the Torchwood Institute — defending the Earth from alien threats. Essentially, it’s a version of Doctor Who for an adult audience.

Torchwood returns to television screens in Summer 2011, and will be set in numerous international locations from Wales to Britain to Canada to the United States.

  1. Naoko was starring in Avenue Q, which is why Torchwood “met” the puppets.
