KISS Drummer Eric Carr’s ‘Rockheads’ Coming In Comic Book Form

The RockheadsThe animated cartoon concept created by KISS drummer Eric Carr before his passing may now become a reality thanks to Rocksville Nation Comics, which will be publishing a comic book including Carr’s Rockheads characters in an April 2011 release. In the second issue of Dyna Meecho’s Rocksville Nation, The Rockheads will be making an appearance in the adventure titled Ticket to Rockheads.

According to a press release, the story sees two young rockers on their own Detroit Rock City-style adventure, desperately attempting to find tickets to the final sold out Rockheads concert. The tale essentially places Eric Carr’s Rockheads as the idols of the main characters, and sounds like a lot of fun.

The press release goes into further details:

“Ticket to Rockheads” follows the adventures of Visor Boy and Hollywood, a pair of cartoon rock n’ rollers trying to become the next “Ultimate Rock Heroes” champions, while they scurry around town unsuccessfully trying to find tickets to the final appearance of the Rockheads sold out show at the Bloomtown Arena, only to wind up as backstage guests at the show. They are then drawn into an “Ultimate Rock Heroes” contest against the Rockheads, which takes them on a journey to reinvent the game.

Eric Carr began developing the concept of The Rockheads in 1987, with assistance from his fellow bandmates in KISS, Gene Simmons and Bruce Kulick. Kulick would later join forces with Carr in recording some music specifically for The Rockheads, which was released posthumously on Eric Carr’s Rockology CD.

As time progressed, Carr was developing plans for The Rockheads with Landmark Entertainment and Hanna Barbera to develop the animated cartoon show. Sadly, before the concept could be fully developed, Carr was diagnosed with cancer, and eventually passed away in 1991. The rights for The Rockheads belong to the Caravello family (Eric’s family, his original name was Paul Caravello) and Bruce Kulick.

Eric Carr was a member of KISS from 1980, after replacing original Catman member Peter Criss. He remained with the band during make-up and unmasked eras, until his passing in 1991, and participated in recording albums such as Creatures of the Night, Lick It Up, and Animalize.

Dyna Meecho’s Rocksville Nation Issue 2: Ticket to Rockheads is expected to be released in April 2011. It will be available online at EricCarr.com and Kulick.net.

  2. This is so cool. I can’t wait to check this out. I miss Eric, he was taken from us way too soon.

I will always feel privileged to have seen KISS on their “Hot in the Shade” tour with Eric. I was in the 10th row, dead-center and not only got to see/hear Eric sing the rarely played live “Little Caesar” (which he and Gene wrote), but I also got to witness what was likely the single best, bone rattling drum solo that I will ever experience.
