It’s being reported that Warner Brothers has plans in motion to reboot the Fletch franchise.
WB, along with Anonymous Content, recently acquired the rights to the title, which is originally based on the 1974 novel by Gregory McDonald. The hope is to build another whole franchise of Fletch movies, not just one single new movie.
Ten more sequels and prequels to the original book were penned over the years, but Fletch is perhaps best recognized from the 1985 movie adaptation of the same name starring Chevy Chase, which was followed by a sequel in 1989. Another movie/reboot has been talked about for a long time now, with stars like Zach Braff and Jason Lee rumored as potential candidates to become Fletch.
The original story follows Irwin M. Fletcher, an investigative reporter who while undercover as a beach bum is propositioned by a man offering him a great deal of money to kill him, ending his cancer suffering. This leads Fletch to look into the man further, uncovering some interesting things. Along with this, the reporter often finds himself trying to solve many different mysteries while going undercover using various costumes.
At the moment, this is only an announcement and no writers, directors, or actors are attached to work on the reboot.

Ryan Reynolds, but he’s on record as saying he loved the original and doesn’t think he could do it justice.

YES!
I could see Zach Braff pulling this off quite well.
