‘The Venture Brothers’ Picked Up For Two More Seasons
  |  @   |

Today was a big day for fans of Adult Swim’s The Venture Brothers. Not only did it see the release of Venture Brothers: Season 4 on Blu-ray and the second half of the season on DVD, but we also found out that the show has officially been picked up for two more seasons.

The announcement was made on series co-creator Jackson Publick‘s blog. By my reckoning, this means we are all set for Seasons 5 and 6, and that is some good news to hear.

Publick said that they have already done some work on the scripts for Season 5, and they are looking to start pre-production by June. I’m gonna guess that means we should see new episodes some time in 2012 (but that is pure speculation on my part, I’m just going by how long it takes to produce a cartoon).

Not only do we get two more seasons, but Publick also said that the new contract includes a 60- to 90-minute special in addition to the new seasons. Publick didn’t have any details on the special, not even if it would be direct-to-DVD or if it would air on TV, but it’s an extra episode, and whatever they come up with is sure to be good.

There was one more Venture Brothers project announced today. Publick said that they have been working on an 11-minute short produced entirely at Titmouse Studios in New York and Los Angeles. The short will premiere sometime this summer (at San Diego Comic-Con perhaps?). As a Venture Brothers fan all of this makes me very very happy. Let’s keep the good stuff going.
