‘Top Chef’ Judge Tom Colicchio To Bring The Foods Of ‘Game Of Thrones’ To New York & L.A.

The Movie God   |  @   |

Ever dreamed of eating the foods of Westeros, the fantastical lands created by author George R.R. Martin for his A Song of Ice and Fire book series that we’ll soon be seeing in HBO’s new series, Game of Thrones?

Well, now some lucky people are going to get the chance to do just that, with the announcement of a special food truck being sent out in a very creative new promotion for the show. And if that wasn’t cool enough, the dishes will be created by none other than renowned chef and head judge on Bravo’s Top Chef, Tom Colicchio.

Be sure to click on over to the other side to learn more about where you can find these food trucks and to check out a couple of videos as well!

Colicchio has constructed his version of multiple dishes inspired by the different regions of Westeros, including King’s Landing, The Wall, and Winterfell. Beginning next week, on March 28, the Game of Thrones truck will begin a week-long run in New York…but it will not be so easy to get the taste you crave. The catch is that at the beginning of each day, a video will show up on the official Twitter and Facebook pages showing that day’s dish. There will also be a hint as to the area the food truck will be. When the food truck parks in the decided spot, the exact location you can find it will then be shared and the rush will be on. The first 300 people to make it to the truck will be treated to a free meal straight out of the pages of Martin’s books.

Each day will have a different dish from a different region of Westeros — including things like roasted rabbit, black fish stew, spice roasted duck, venison, squab, and lemon cakes — so if you want to get in on it make sure you follow them carefully and make sure you actually like (or like the sound of) whatever is being served that day.

After the run in New York, the truck will make its way out to Los Angeles, where another week-long run will take place starting on April 4 with the same exact plans for how to find them and take part.

If you’re talented at figuring out locations based solely on a hint, you might just be able to get in on a lot of these. But if you’re going on the official announcement of a truck’s location you better be close and quick, because 300 is likely going to go very quickly. And for those of us who aren’t near these cities or won’t be able to try and make it, the recipe for the Lemon Cakes has been released online.

This is just another of HBO’s incredible marketing campaign; if you’ve yet to see it, they were gracious enough to send Geeks of Doom one of less than 100 special Scents and Scrolls of Westeros boxes not too long ago. What better way to get people even more excited for the show than to fully immerse them in the actual world with scents and tastes of things that exist in that fictional world? It’s certainly one of the more unique and original promotions we’ve seen.

Below are two videos. The first shows Chef Colicchio working on the dishes that will be served, while the second is an unrelated video where the foods of the Seven Kingdoms are discussed.
