Attention was focused on Henry Cavill during the Immortals panel today at WonderCon 2011 as it’s the actor’s first major public appearance since being cast as the Man of Steel in the new Superman movie directed by Zack Snyder.
“The new suit is still in development, so I haven’t tried it on,” Cavill said in response to the first fan question about what he feels like after putting on the Superman costume. He also talked about the training he went through to get in shape for Immortals, which no doubt made him an even more perfect candidate for Superman. “Lots of cardiovascular, lots of mixed martial arts, and eating very little.”
The trailer Tarsem Singh‘s Immortals was debuted. Cavil stars in the film as Theseus, who’s chosen by Zeus to protect the homelands from the threat of the titans and save the gods.
The trailer opened with a single bird flying through the sky and then to a shot of King Hyperion, played by Mickey Rourke, kneeling and proclaiming something. They then cut to Zeus (Luke Evans) swinging a golden flaming whip around the screen. Theseus (Cavill), the hero of the story, is shown picking up a glowing bow and rallying his people to battle. At one point Theseus shoots four glowing arrows that all hit their human targets.
“Today we fight for honor, four your future, for your children…” speaks Thesus.
Honestly, the trailer was an impressive tease to what will probably be a pretty decent film by director Tarsem Singh (The Cell) and the producers of 300.
Check back on Geeks of Doom soon for more discussions and video of the panel; in the meantime, take a look the set of posters for the film that were recently released.
