IDW To Release ‘Parker: The Martini Edition’

IDW has been taking advantage of the attention at WonderCon this year, as noted earlier with the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and much more comics news, so you know that we would be getting some news about the high profile Richard Stark’s Parker series of graphic novels adapted by Darwin Cooke, and we are. It’s not the news of a new Parker book is being released, but it’s still awesome.

In July of this year, IDW will be re-releasing Parker: The Hunter and Parker: The Outfit in a brand new, without a doubt beautiful collected slipcase edition entitled Parker: The Martini Edition. The Martini Edition will feature some brand new bonus content including an art gallery, and an 8-page Parker short story, written and drawn by Darwin Cooke that will be exclusive to this collection.

The collection is slated as being partial color, so I’m not sure if the 8-page short will be in color, or if they’re referring to the different color inking and effects that Cooke used in the novels. The list price for this hardcover collection is a tad high, coming in at $75, but if the bonus content is as good as it could be, I should say this special edition could easily be worth the price, and if you’ve, for some insane reason, skipped the books because you haven’t been able to find either of them, then you should definitely pick this up. It should be worth it, trust me on this one.

Those of us on Comics of Doom, the official comics podcast of Geeks of Doom, are huge fans of Darwyn Cooke’s graphic novel adaptations of the Parker stories, we even made it our Doom of the Month in January!

I definitely want this Martini Edition, but do you? Are you a fan of these graphic novels, or if you haven’t picked up the books yet, does this collection interest you? The price tag is a little high, so will that keep you away, or does it sound like a good deal? Let us know in the comments section below!
