Fan favorite author Neil Gaiman revealed a peek from his upcoming guest appearance as an animated character on Fox’s The Simpsons.
The teaser image is a sketch from the upcoming animated episode shows Gaiman’s character getting a knife put to his throat by Springfield’s most famous bartender Moe Szyslak (Hank Azaria). See the photo here at right (click for larger, full view.) In the episode, titled “The Book Job,” which won’t air for another year, the British author plays a version of himself, and will do an American accent.
Gaiman teased the sketch at the end of his appearance at the Doctor Who panel at WonderCon 2011 where he was talking about the episode he’s written for the upcoming new season.
Finally! A reason to watch The Simpsons again! I haven’t out of my way to see an episode since that one where Alan Moore guest starred as himself along with Art Spiegelman, Daniel Clowes, and Jack Black. The show itself, which was once the most brilliant half-hour ever broadcast on American television; has become a shadow of its former self and needs to put out of its misery. I have fond memories of Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, Maggie, etc.; but it’s time to let them go.
