It’s Week of Geek and we’re counting down to the premiere episode of Doctor Who Series 6, entitled The Impossible Astronaut, launching on Saturday April 23 on BBC in the UK, and BBC America in the U.S. The BBC has released a whole bunch of new images in the run up to the opening of the season, and you check all of them out at the bottom of this post… but be warned, some might find them a bit spoilery!

This photo collection is mainly made up of stills from the first two episodes of Series 6, The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon. The two episodes make up one adventure, as The Doctor (Matt Smith) is reunited with his companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan), Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill), and River Song (Alex Kingston).

The two opening episodes were directed by Toby Haynes, and written by showrunner Steven Moffat — and continue many of the overarching story arc memes and themes that were running during the previous season.
