Ethan Hawke Set To Appear In ‘Total Recall’ Remake With Colin Farrell
  |  @   |

The cast for Columbia Pictures’ upcoming remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi classic, Total Recall, is coming together quite nicely so far. A couple of the larger roles have already been filled, and now it’s being reported that Ethan Hawke will be joining them.

It started with the signing of Colin Farrell to play the lead role of Douglas Quaid, a factory worker one day starts to think he might be a spy — only this time around it will take place right here on Earth instead of on the planet Mars, and Quaid will be trying to figure out if he’s working for the nation of Euromerica or New Shanghai.

Then came word that Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston had been cast as one of the villains in the movie, Vilos Cohaagen, once played by Ronny Cox.

No details on what role Hawke will be playing in Total Recall were given, only that it would be something of a cameo role. Given that the actor wasn’t in the ’90 movie, I can only assume that this means he’ll be playing the part of the Johnny Cab.

No female roles have been announced officially yet, though Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel are said to be in some form of negotiations for the parts — assumedly the very same played by Sharon Stone (Biel) and Rachel Ticotin (Beckinsale) in the Schwarzenegger version.

  1. My first thought was that he had been cast as Richter until I read that it is merely a cameo appearance. Nevertheless, it would be good if Colin Farrell and Ethan Hawke have a scene together.

I predicted back on July 29, 2010 when it was announced that Len Wiseman would direct Total Recall that Kate Beckinsale would be cast as Lori. I hope former California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger will have a cameo in Total Recall and share a scene with Colin Farrell, perhaps telling him to have fun.

  2. I’m sick of “remake”s and “reboot”s. Both are dirty 6 letter words.

  3. I have NO intention of ever seeing this crap. Total Recall was an Arnold movie and you can’t cast that no-talent hack (Farrell) in it and expect people to like it. He can’t carry a major movie anymore — “Alexander” proved that.
