DC Relaunch: ‘Batman, Incorporated’ Continues In 2012

Fans who’ve been following Grant Morrison‘s Batman work have been waiting with baited breath ever since DC Comics announced their September relaunch. Would Grant Morrison have to wrap up his story before he was ready? Would DC Comics perform the dastardly deed of destroying the international work of The Dark Knight detective? Fear not, Batfans.

On Monday, DC Comics announced on their official website that Morrison’s Batman, Incorporated will start anew in early 2012 with a brand new number one issue. Joined by artist Chris Burnham, Morrison will be bringing the final 12 parts of the Leviathan storyline, which will conclude Morrison’s 6-year Batman epic.

Here’s Grant Morrison’s description of what’s to come:

Batman, Incorporated will continue through to Issue #10 and August’s shocking season finale that changes the Batman status quo yet again. The series will take a brief hiatus while I work on a major new project to be announced shortly. Batman, Incorporated returns next year with me, Chris Burnham and Batman: Leviathan, the epic 12 part conclusion to my 6 year Batman saga. Don’t miss it!

Don’t worry, Grant, I won’t.

I’ve been looking forward to this news, and the break between issue #10 and 2012’s issue #12 suggests that this relaunch wasn’t necessarily something that Morrison was anticipating, and neither were readers. And as much of a pain it is to have to wait until “early 2012,” I’m relieved that Morrison and his legions of fans are not getting a completely raw deal. I’m looking forward to the future.

  1. YAY DCU rebooted again so what does that make it now an average of 5 years. YAY. DC really needs to sit down with there writter and beg them to stop fucking everything up ever couple of years. As many faults as Marvel has at least ever issue published is in continuity (not WHAT IF smartass). So from here on out MAKE MINE MARVEL.
