First Look: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Teaser Poster Is Awesome

The brand new teaser poster has hit the web for The Dark Knight Rises.
Check it out here below.
The poster image shows a decaying Gotham City framing the famous Christopher Nolan Bat Symbol.
This new image has teased me more than enough to get me excited for the new teaser trailer attached to theatrical screenings of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2, which is set to be released this weekend. This is about the time where we’ll see a lot more in the vein of marketing for the third and final installment in Nolan’s Batman films, so be prepared to for even more Dark Knight Rises awesomeness to be hitting your eye holes.

Blu-ray Review: The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy Extended Edition
|

The Lord of the Rings
The Motion Picture Trilogy – Extended Edition
Blu-ray
Directed by Peter Jackson
Starring Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom
Warner Home Video
Release date: June 28, 2011
If you want to turn a hit theatrical franchise into a long-term moneymaker in Hollywood, it’s all about the home video releases. Sequels or prequels are an often shaky proposition (see The Godfather, Part III and Star Wars Episodes I, II, III, for example.) If you or your company own one or more films with a solid cult following, however, home video releases can be the gift that keeps on giving, usually at reasonable cost and low risk to revenue. George Lucas is a proven master at this, hauling out a new home video revision of one or more of his Star Wars films that highlights some new video format, some different cut of the film (including a reversion back to the original theatrical release), some new documentary extra, or even a preview of some upcoming Star Wars project. Likewise Francis Ford Coppola has cut and re-cut The Godfather films into releases like The Godfather Saga and The Epic Godfather box set that added material and joined scenes in chronological order, as well as offer re-masters like The Godfather DVD Collection and The Godfather: the Coppola Restoration. Some studios and directors take this process even further with direct-to-video revisions of flawed but remembered chapters of well-known franchises like Paramount and Robert Wise did with Star Trek: The Motion Picture The Director’s Edition.

Comic Review: Elric: The Balance Lost #1
|
Elric: The Balance Lost #1
Elric created by Michael Moorcock
Written by Chris Roberson
Art by Francesco Biagini
BOOM! Studios
$3.99
Release date: July 6, 2011
“Blood and souls for my Lord Arioch!”
Even after thirty years, that always makes my heart race. Michael Moorcock’s Elric saga was the first true fantasy series that I devoured, much like Neil Gaiman mentions in the afterward of Elric: The Balance Lost #1, the beginning of a new comic book series from BOOM! Studios. I read everything that I could lay my hands on that was in the Eternal Champion series: Elric, Hawkmoon, Corum, Erekose, Cornelius, you name it and I read it. Again and again. I have the original comics from the 1980’s based on Moorcock’s original Elricbooks. I sought out all the early 70’s Daw printings of the series. Heck, I even bought a copy of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Deities and Demigods just because it contained the Melniboné mythos in there.
Have I convinced you that I’m flat-out obsessed with this character(s)? Good, because now you need to go buy this comic book. Right now. Go. Need a little more convincing? Fine, read on…

New ‘Conan the Barbarian 3D’ Character Poster Released

That title might be a bit misleading so let me clear it up right off the bat: the actual poster is not in 3D.
Got that? Okay then.
Back to what I was originally going to say. Lionsgate has released the latest poster for their 3D Conan the Barbarian movie, and while it looks very nice it’s pretty standard as far as movie posters go. Check out the poster here below (click on the thumbnail for larger, full version).
