New ‘Conan the Barbarian 3D’ Character Poster Released
  |

That title might be a bit misleading so let me clear it up right off the bat: the actual poster is not in 3D.

Got that? Okay then.

Back to what I was originally going to say. Lionsgate has released the latest poster for their 3D Conan the Barbarian movie, and while it looks very nice it’s pretty standard as far as movie posters go. Check out the poster here below (click on the thumbnail for larger, full version).

It’s colorful and full of promises of badass action, fearsome beasties, sexy ladies (even Rose McGowan has an Alice Krige in Star Trek: First Contact thing going on), and the irresistible combination of Stephen Lang and a scimitar. But it pales in comparison to the previously released posters, such as the Frank Frazetta-inspired motion poster from March (which you can check out here) and the man-tastic poster released in May (check it out here). Bog standard poster aside, this movie looks like it might actually be worth watching. I’ll reserve my final judgment for when I see the movie.

Conan the Barbarian 3D, directed by Marcus Nispel and starring Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Ron Perlman, and the aforementioned McGowan and Lang, opens on August 19, 2011.
