‘The Crow’ Rises From The Grave At IDW
  |  @   |

Get ready for the return of The Crow, the fan favorite series originally created by James O’Barr. Coming in 2012, IDW Publishing will publish several series set both in the universe of the original comics, as well as one based on the upcoming feature film. In addition to the new series, IDW will be offering collector’s editions of all the existing Crow comics.

“I edited the last Crow series when I ran Todd McFarlane’s comics in the late “˜90’s, and we’re looking forward to bringing this classic character back to the medium in 2012 at IDW,” said Ted Adams, the company’s co-founder and chief executive officer, in a statement released by IDW last week.

The Crow was originally released through Caliber Press in 1989, and went on to have a string of movies and a TV series adaptations. With a new movie on the way set to reignite interest in the property, now is a perfect time for the book to return to the comic stands. There’s no mention from IDW as to whether O’Barr will be involved in the new series, but hopefully he’s involved in some way. If you’ve never read the original issues of The Crow, they still hold up more than twenty years later, and you should at least check out those issues when they are re-released.

  1. I spoke briefly to O’Barr at the Austin comic convention last November (?) and he said he was going to reissue his old material with some new added stuff…to kind of flesh it out more.  Maybe this is part of that.  I hope so, I loved the original O’Barr story!
