New ‘Apollo 18’ One Sheet Will Leave You Screaming

Within today’s film landscape, there are many conventions. Be it remakes of recently released foreign films, major tentpole projects based on hit comic books, or darker takes on franchises we already know and love, Hollywood isn’t afraid to ride a trend until it’s bloody and beaten. Horror films are no different.

The current belle of the ball has to be “found footage” films, and while they mostly stick to basic haunted house pictures, it’s almost time that this trend heads to space.

Dimension has released the newest one sheet for their upcoming film Apollo 18, and while buzz surrounding the film hasn’t been great (a cavalcade of release date changes haven’t helped things much), this poster is definitely pretty. It’s not the most inventive of posters, but it does catch the viewer’s eye, which is always important when dealing with a one sheet.

The film itself sounds rather interesting, as this writer thinks that the world of found footage projects could really have a new life when taken to space, so hopefully this can be a shocker when it finally hits on September 2, 2011. Check out the poster, trailer, and official synopsis here below and be sure to check out the film’s official site.

Officially, Apollo 17, launched December 17th, 1972 was the last manned mission to the moon. But in December of 1974, two American astronauts were sent on a secret mission to the moon funded by the US Department of Defense. What you are about to see is the actual footage which the astronauts captured on that mission. While NASA denies its authenticity, others say it’s the real reason we’ve never gone back to the moon.
