UPDATED! Do You Want To See A ‘Say Anything’ Sequel? Director Cameron Crowe Might…
  |  @   |

Say Anything… is one of the quintessential films of the ’80s. It starred John Cusack as an unambitious kickboxer, unsure of what he wants to do with his life after graduating high school, who falls in love with the smart and focused valedictorian of his class (played by Ione Skye), whose father very much disapproves of her mutual interest in him.

But would you ever expect to or even want to see a sequel to the popular movie? It appears as though some would, and one of them could be writer and director Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous, Jerry Maguire).

When asked about the possibility of a Say Anything… sequel, Crowe said “It’s the only thing that I’ve written that I would consider doing that with. I’ve thought about it from time to time and talked about it with John Cusack once and just said this is the only story that I kind of think there might be another chapter to that at some point.”

It’s unclear where the story would pick up or if this will ever come closer to happening than this innocent quote, but if it does somehow end up happening, Crowe knows who the most important character to bring back would be, saying “We have to keep the guy, the drunk guy that Lloyd Dobler has to drive home from the prom party. He’s got to come back. I think about him, too. Mike Cameron, yeah.”

Would you want to see a Say Anything… sequel, or is it a pointless endeavor?

UPDATE: Mr. Crowe added a little extra directly to me via the Twitter (which makes me a very happy–happy movie fan), saying: “@TheMovieGod Come to think of it, it was the Mike Cameron movie that was haunting me.”

  1. Don’t tamper with the classics. Just release a digitally remastered blue ray with cast interviews and be done with it.
