Watch Chris Cornell Perform Live With Pearl Jam For Temple Of The Dog Reunion
  |  @   |

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell joined Pearl Jam on stage on Saturday, September 3, during the second encore of the band’s 20th anniversary live concert, turning the set into a Temple Of The Dog reunion.

Cornell performed four songs with Pearl Jam at the concert: Three Temple Of The Dog tunes — “Hunger Strike,” “Say Hello 2 Heaven,” and “Reach Down” — as well as “Stardog Champion,” a cover song from of Pearl Jam predecessor Mother Love Bone. You can watch all the videos here below of the four songs they performed at the concert in Alpine Valley, WI.

After their singer Andrew Wood died in 1990, Mother Love Bone guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament collaborated with Soundgarden’s Matt Cameron and Chris Cornell — the latter of whom was Wood’s roommate — on Temple of the Dog for one record as a tribute to their late friend. The other musicians on the album — singer Eddie Vedder and lead guitarist Mike McCready — would later join Gossard and Ament in forming Pearl Jam. In recent years, Cameron has been behind the skins for Pearl Jam and is also a member of the reunited Soundgarden.

Watching Cornell with the Pearl Jam boys and hearing them do these amazing songs together the way they did in the early 1990s — especially on “Hunger Strike,” where Cornell and Vedder duet — gives me goosebumps. It sounds awesome, so definitely check the videos.
