When planning a vacation it’s always good to make your hotel reservations in advance. Otherwise you might find yourself staying at a complete dump where the elevators spill gallons of blood and your next door neighbor might be the Devil incarnate. Then again you may just get no mint on your pillow and access to a swimming pool that never gets cleaned as often as it should. These things tend to happen, which is good that we have Trip Advisor.
Now the clever folks over at Screen Junkies have come up with a feature that posits what the good people at Trip Advisor would have to say about the hotels and motels that have appeared in some of the finest films ever made, and others that aren’t as good.
Famous resorts from movies like Barton Fink, 1408, Bottle Rocket, Hotel Rwanda, Vacancy, Hotel for Dogs, and the two most famous cinematic hotels — the Overlook from The Shining and the Bates Motel from Psycho — are featured here along with captions from the characters in those movies.
After reading all these capsule reviews I have to say that I laughed a lot, but I will be staying at a Holiday Inn next time.
Here’s a sample review of the Sedgewick Hotel from Ghostbusters, featuring comments by the old gentleman with the cigar who asked the ‘Busters if they were “cosmonauts”.
Be sure to head on over to Screen Junkies to check out the rest of the listings.
