If you’re a comics fan with an iPad, you have reason to be happy this week as IDW Publishing has released a whole bunch of graphic novels from their library for release on Apple’s iBooks store. Now readers will be able to buy books directly from Apple without having to go through any other apps or sellers.

The books out this week include a first for IDW as they release the graphic novel Code Word: Geronimo, which is the story of the Navy Seals daring raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound that ended in his death. This all-new graphic novel is written by military expert Captain Dale Dye (USMC, retired) and Dr. Julia Dye. It is being released digitally on the same day it sees release in print.

The graphic novels included in IDW’s first batch for iBooks include almost twenty titles, many of which are some of best books IDW has ever released. Below is the list of books that are available now.

“¢ Code Word: Geronimo
“¢ Bloom County: The Complete Digital Library 1980-1981
“¢ Locke & Key Vol. 1: Welcome to Lovecraft
“¢ Locke & Key Vol. 2: Head Games
“¢ Locke & Key Vol. 3: Crown of Shadows
“¢ Locke & Key Vol. 4: Keys to the Kingdom
“¢ Parker: The Hunter
“¢ Parker: The Outfit
“¢ Star Trek: Movie Adaptation
“¢ Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon Movie Adaptation
“¢ The Last Unicorn
“¢ Little Adventures in Oz Vol. 1
“¢ Dead Space
“¢ Dragon Age
“¢ G.I. Joe: Hearts & Minds
“¢ Witch & Wizard: Battle for Shadowland
“¢ The Murder of King Tut
“¢ True Blood Vol.1: All Together Now
“¢ The Rocketeer: The Complete Adventures

The winners here are the four volumes of Locke and Key and the two volumes of Darwyn Cooke‘s Parker graphic novels. If you don’t own these already, you owe it to yourself to check it out. There’s something here for all tastes so take a look to see if anything looks good to you.

With DC going day and date with all of their New 52 titles and now with IDW expanding the availability of their books, comic readers have a lot to look forward to when they fire up their iPad.

Does selling through the iBook store make a difference to anyone, or are most readers already getting everything through Comixology or any of the other comics readers? Hopefully this will attract some new readers who do most of their shopping through iBooks.
