One of my favorite time periods in the Star Wars universe is the Old Republic. The original game for Xbox is one of my all time favorites. It is with this background that I dove into Star Wars: The Old Republic #4.

This issue follows two Jedi spies who are on an Imperial ship. Here we learn what is making it possible for the Empire to build their power weapons and ships so quickly, the Sun Razer. The Sun Razer harvests the energy of the Sun and allows the Empire to use the energy. One of the Jedi ends up having worked on the slave planet that built the prototype, and he is dealing with the guilt of not stopping the Sun Razer from being built.

The other Jedi is told that the Empire grows stronger every day, since they can build ships so quickly with their limitless supply of energy, and is offered a place.

The Jedi must decide which course of action to take, which which is what this limited run will end with in the next issue.

The art is very well done. Some of the characters, specifically the Sith Lord, are a little goofy, but what do you expect it’s Star Wars? A great book set in a great time in a great galaxy. I have to give a little deduction for lack of lightsabers, even though there is one on the cover. Score, 4.75 out of 5. I can’t wait to read what is sure to be an action-packed conclusion to this run.

  1. You must have gotten a different comic than me, since in my version, there’s only one Jedi (the one who once was a slave building the Sun Razer), and as for Theron – he’s not a Jedi, though he trained under one.
