The comic book world has been rocked, as one of its better known artists has passed. Dutch outlets (via Bleeding Cool) are reporting that artist Minck Oosterveer died on Saturday from a motorcycle accident. He was 50 years old.

Best known for his work on books like Marvel’s Ruse and Boom Studio’s Zombie Tales and The Unknown, Oosterveer was an important name not only in the comic book world, but particularly in the Dutch comic industry, where he produced strips like Zodiac and Nicky Saxx.

There’s been no official statement released at this time from Oosterveer’s family or from any of the publishers he worked with. Oosterveer last updated his Facebook page on Friday, stating “drawing who knows…” The artist had been working on commissions, and had posted several drawings to FB earlier this month.

While I’m not hugely familiar with his work, I was a fan of his work on Ruse, a book that I think is underrated. The art was fantastic, as was much of this man’s work. He is survived by his wife, and two children.
