Timed to the upcoming second season premiere of The Walking Dead Anchor Bay Entertainment is releasing a special edition DVD set of the show’s problematic but ultimately stellar first season on Blu-ray and DVD with even more extra features than their previous release of the first season. Today the company has released a clip from one of the newly created bonus featurettes and you can watch the video below this article.

Titled “Digital Decay,” the 90-second clip takes brief look at the CGI effects created for the series, notably the additional zombies. There’s nothing revelatory in this video but it does give you a feel for the ways that digital effects are used to create a worthwhile end result.

Among the new features to be found on the Season 1 Special Edition are audio commentaries with various principal members of the cast and crew, behind-the-scenes featurettes, extra footage, and a special version of the pilot episode presented in black and white. There will also be a collector’s tin that contains an exclusive NECA zombie mask designed by the show’s FX make-up guru Greg Nicotero.

The Walking Dead: Season One Special Edition will be released on three-disc Blu-ray and DVD on October 4, 2011.
