Geeks of Doom vs. New York Comic Con 2011

Most everyone in the geek world knows that New York Comic-Con is going on this weekend and it just so happens that one of my favorite comic book companies, Evil Ink!, is here to sell merch and sling comics!

Luckily, I got a chance to catch up with Claudio Sanchez (of Coheed and Cambria) and Chondra Echert on their upcoming book Key of Z on the convention floor at Booth 1345 about the new comic, what they’re looking forward to seeing at the convention, and what they’ve got coming up. You can watch my video interview here below. Now, the audio quality on the video is a little off, so before you take to the comments section to tell me that I should have been looking at the camera or using a mic, I totally agree with you. My bad, it will never happen again.

So, to save you the ear strain, I wanted to tell you about some of the high points from the interview, and they are listed here below.

Kill Audio Too: The sequel to one of my favorite comics over the last few years will be done with Kill Audio artist Sheldon Vella. Took to the backburner when Key of Z kicked off.

Novelization of Coheed and Cambria’s The Second Stage Turbine Blade: Done with the amazing science fiction writer Peter David, who they’ve worked with on The Amory Wars: In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 comic book, as well as the novelization of the Coheed and Cambria album Year of the Black Rainbow. Hopefully, this is a sign that they will be adapting all of the Coheed and Cambria albums. Because that would be awesome.

Continuation of The Amory Wars Comic Series: In the wake of the recent comic series, Claudio Sanchez and Peter David will be tackling the next part in the story with The Amory Wars: Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV.

Key of Z #1

Zombie sketches by Key of Z artist on Saturday: Go by and check this out for sure. A great artist doing personalized zombie sketches on Saturday. Go by their booth and check it out.

Bigger table, more merch: Merchandise available for all of their comics. The Amory Wars, Kill Audio, Key of Z, as well as some Coheed and Cambria merchandise are all available.

A lot of this was gone into more detail in a previous interview in which more things like Coheed’s work on the Batman: Arkham City soundtrack, what comics Claudio and Chondra love and want a creative crack at, and even more, so make sure to give that a listen! And stay tuned to all of Geeks of Doom’s coverage of New York Comic-Con!

Also – like I said, the audio on the video interview below isn’t the best, but it’s definitely worth watching (this has been confirmed by the few people who’ve watched it before this posting).
