How To Make Your Own ‘Immortals’ Halloween Costume, Plus Win Stuff!
  |  @   |

On November 11, 2011, Tarsem Singh’s Greek mythology epic, Immortals, hits theaters, but if you want to be an Immortal for Halloween, we have some DIY instructions for you to follow to make your own costume.

In the film, Isabel Lucas plays the beautiful goddess Athena — that’s her in the film in the photo above (and in the poster below). See here below for instructions on how to make your own Athena costume. And don’t worry if you’re not the greatest do-it-yourselfer — there’s a handy link to purchase a golden dress, so all you’ll have to do is create the accessories!

Those of you who do end up making this costume, tweet me at @eveofdoom with a pic of yourself in the costume (or it can be of just the costume itself) OR post a pic to the Geeks of Doom Facebook page and I’ll send you a prize.

Costume Instructions

Athena

Athena is the goddess of Wisdom and War, and if you want to look as good as Isabel Lucas does this Halloween, follow these steps below to make your own Immortals costume!

  • Go to your local fabric store and purchase gold fabric. Or if you would like something easier, go to American Apparel or order online this dress in Metallic Gold.
  • For the cape, use gold fabric and cut it to the length you desire (three feet or so). Cut small slits along the top about three inches apart. Thread the gold rope through it. The rope should be long enough so you cross them in front of your chest and bring them under your arms to tie behind your back under the cape.
  • Purchase or make a crown out of cardboard by first measuring your heard, then design your crown pattern on the cardboard, cut the pattern out, then paint gold or wrap with remaining gold fabric.

Visionary director Tarsem Singh (The Cell, The Fall) transports us in this epic tale of treachery, vengeance and destiny in Immortals, a stylish and visually spectacular 3D action adventure. As a power-hungry king razes ancient Greece in search of a legendary weapon, a heroic young villager rises up against him in a thrilling quest as timeless as it is powerful. The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his murderous Heraklion army rampage across Greece in search of the long lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake, and it seems nothing will stop the evil king’s mission.

IMMORTALS: As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge his mother, who was killed in one of Hyperion’s brutal raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of the young man’s future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and embraces his destiny in a final, desperate battle for the future of humanity. Immortals is produced by Gianni Nunnari (300), Mark Canton (300) and Ryan Kavanaugh (The Fighter).
