Less than three weeks after the death of Steve Jobs a biography of the late digital media pioneer and co-founder of Apple and Pixar Animation written by former CNN chairman and Time magazine managing editor Walter Isaacson has been released.

The book, simply titled Steve Jobs, is now available in hardcover and Kindle formats.

Isaacson began work on the book back in 2009 and was granted unprecedented access to Jobs, but the computer tycoon, who passed away on October 5 due to complications from pancreatic cancer, exerted no editorial control or even ask to read any draft of the book before it was to be published. Jobs was characteristically honest and open about his life and the path he took to become the success story he was at the end of his life. Isaacson also conducted interviews with over a hundred of Jobs’ closest friends, family members, competitors, and allies to create a candid and comprehensive portrait of a complex individual whose drive to be a trailblazer in the digital age often infuriated those around him and isolated Jobs from the world around him.

The book is published by Simon & Schuster. Isaacson previously wrote acclaimed biographies of polarizing historical figures such as Benjamin Franklin, Henry Kissinger, and Albert Einstein. The fascinating life of Steve Jobs fits very nicely in that company.
