Watch Now: The ‘Muppets’ Parody Trailer To End Them All
  |

The latest (and final) parody trailer for The Muppets has been released and you can watch it here below.

Much like a snake swallowing its own tail, this entire arm of the marketing campaign for the big screen comeback of Jim Henson’s classic creations has finally come full circle. In the rush to cram in quick spoofs of Paranormal Activity 3, Puss in Boots, Happy Feet 2, and the next Twilight movie (“Breaking Prawn”….get it?), the trailer department also decided to throw in a parody of the first Muppets parody trailer, the soon-to-be-legendary “Green with Envy” teaser, because…. why the hell not?

Other than some much-appreciated commentary from Statler and Waldorf and Pepe the Prawn sexing up the works in his own strange way, there isn’t anything to see here that we haven’t seen before. If Disney doesn’t release this movie soon I’m just going to edit all the trailers together and make my own.

The Muppets opens on November 23, 2011, and I am now sick of typing the word “parody.”

  1. I have always LOVED the Muppets–Beaker especially.  I’ve loved the “tributes” they’ve posted in recent years–the winner of course being Bohemian Rhapsody.  So while I’m a bit nervous about Frank Oz not being involved in this one, I’ll still probably go see it.

    Smiles!

  3. Lori–

    The truth is, Frank Oz retired from Muppet performing back in 2000.
    Directing is his true passion. He never even wanted to be a puppeteer in the first place. He has stated this in interviews;
    http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Frank_Oz

    Since 2000, his characters have all been recast.

    So, Frank was not involved with ANY of those Internet viral videos.

    By now you know that the Muppets film received critical acclaim and was a hit.
    In all probability, Frank was reacting to an early version of the script.
    EVERY movie script goes through several drafts

    I am a die-hard Muppet fan from way back, and the final film did NOT disrespect the characters.

    The truth is, in several interviews the puppeteer cast of the film has said that are happy with the movie. Which contradicts those early slanderous rumors.

    See? You can’t put too much stock in Internet gossip.

    Also, in response to something else that you mentioned in a previous Muppet related post;

    I fail to see how Disney how using Avatar is bad;

    Have you forgotten about the Star Wars and Indiana Jones attractions? They are very popular. People love them. My point is, this is not the first time that Disney has used outside sources in the theme parks. Its not a bad thing, and it does not go against Walt’s legacy.
