Everyone and their mother is hunting for a franchise to keep alive, sucking from it as much cash as humanly possible. The latest franchise getting a new entry? Underworld.

Underworld: Awakening finds the cast and crew returning to the battle between vampires and lycans, this time, with something much bigger at stake. The only hybrid child ever conceived has been released, and the latter crew is looking to take it down, with the former hoping to protect it.

Now, thanks to Yahoo, we have the newest trailer for the film, and frankly, for January dumping ground fare, it doesn’t look as dreadful as one would expect. While I’m not at all a fan of the franchise, the action here looks fine, and honestly, there is much worse one could do when thinking of something to watch during the early year doldrums. Oscar potential is absolutely null here, obviously, but then again, who really cares. If this can make January a fun month, it’s more than worth it.
