Like the digits on Spinal Tap‘s amplifiers, today the numbers on the calendar all go up to eleven: 11/11/11.

Five years ago rock and metal fans rejoiced when the date hit 6/6/6. But today is better, today is louder. One louder. As guitarist Nigel Tufnel explained to filmmaker Marti DiBergi in the movie This Is Spın̈al Tap, “most blokes will be playing at ten” but Spın̈al Tap can push all the way up to 11.
