Watch George C. Scott Endure The Unimaginable Horror Of The ‘Jack & Jill’ Trailer
space
BAADASSSSS!   |

George C. Scott

This has been floating around the Net for a while now, but not long after the first trailer for the latest Adam Sandler “comedy” Jack & Jill was released some one created a video that cleverly intercut clips from the trailer with a scene from the 1979 Paul Schrader film Hardcore. You can watch it here below.

Sandler must sleep very well at night. He’s one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, he makes millions of dollars for essentially hanging out with his friends all year long, and every so often he’ll take on a daringly different movie role in something like Funny People or Punch-Drunk Love and win almost unanimous acclaim for his effort. So why is it then he must star of his own free will in a movie like Jack & Jill?

The answer would usually be for the love of money, but I think there’s a deeper, darker reason that for someone to discover that reason would put at risk their sanity and the remnants of their mortal soul. You stare into that abyss and the abyss stares right back, as this video will attest.

In that movie the late George C. Scott played a conservative business from the Midwest who searches for his runaway teenage daughter in the Los Angeles porno underworld. Assisting him in his search is a private detective played by another late, great actor — Peter Boyle — and at one point Boyle discovers a film featuring Scott’s daughter in an unsavory sexual scenario that no father would ever want to see his precious offspring deeply involved in. Thus Scott decides to watch the film.

The result is difficult to watch and Scott plays the devastating scene with a heartbreaking intensity that should have won him that year’s Best Actor Academy Award. He wasn’t even nominated, but fortunately Scott never gave much of a shit about the Oscars anyway – when he won the Best Actor gong in 1970 for his performance in Patton Scott didn’t even show up to accept the award. It was his own irascible way of telling Hollywood that he had much better things to do that night.

I’m not sure watching the trailer for Opera Man’s latest humor atrocity would cause the same reaction as a grieving father who just experienced such soul-damaging torment, but I would imagine it could possibly come very close.

Watch and judge for yourself. Try to not grab your temples and hear yourself screaming, “TURN IT OFF! TURN IT OFF!”
