Writer H.P. Lovecraft died in 1937 at 46 years old, with poverty and malnutrition being contributing factors to his early death. It’s with that in mind that Ross Lockhart, the editor of The Book of Cthulhu, came up with a 24-hour Twitter challenge to help feed the hungry. This Thanksgiving, if you donate to a food bank or any charities that help feed the hungry, you can enter to win The Book of Cthulhu, an anthology collecting 17 tales of cosmic horror inspired by the writer Lovecraft.
To enter to win, make your donation, then sign on to Twitter and tweet the following message:
I fed Cthulhu [your donation] to [organization] #FeedCthulhu @lossrockhart
You have until 11:59 pm PST Thanksgiving night to send your message on Twitter. Lockhart will then randomly selected 24 people to win an ebook version of the book, and three people to win a signed, personalized copy of The Book of Cthulhu. Be sure to include the hashtag #FeedCthulhu as well as Lockhart’s Twitter handle [@lossrockhart] so that you’ll be entered to win.
In case it’s not obvious, fill in the bracketed areas. In the [your donation], enter what you donated — can of beans, a week’s worth of meals, etc; for [organization], enter the name of the charity you donated to — Second Harvest, Food Bank of New York, etc.
According to Lockhart, the donations can be of food or money to a food charity: “a local food bank, church, temple, coven, a bin outside your grocery store, or national hunger relief organization — doesn’t matter, so long as they’re feeding people.” Head over to The Book of Cthulhu page for more details about this Twitter challenge for a great cause.
