The Social Blend podcast has released its regular year-end special, The Best of 2011. The episode is a collection of some of the memorable and funniest moments from shows through the year.
2011 was a bit of a challenging year for Social Blend. We’d traditionally followed content at Mixx.com for our show nucleus; but the beginning of the year saw the announcement they were closing down their classic site as they’d been acquired by UberMedia. From there, we created our own social news site, MixxingBowl.com; while the Mixx guys moved on to establish Chime.in.
Through the episode we look back at the news of Metallica and Lou Reed joining forces, moments where we debate 2011 movies such as Thor and Green Lantern, the Occupy Wall Street movement, and the news of the West Memphis Three finally being freed after 18 years; among many other topics. Geeks of Doom’s own Empress Eve has been a guest on our show and her participation made the cut for this Best Of episode.
Social Blend is the podcast I partake in with co-host Jay Fowler, which we’ve been doing since 2008. Next year will be our fifth year, and we hope that we can get to a sixth providing the world doesn’t end”¦ at least if you subscribe to that belief.
Geeks of Doom’s TARDISblend (Doctor Who podcast), is a sister show to Social Blend.
