Bane’s Dialogue Getting Re-Mixed For ‘The Dark Knight Rises’?

Are you like most of the world, and had a rather tough time understanding the dialogue coming out of the mouth of Bane in the recently released trailer and extended prologue for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises? Well, Nolan has heard your complaints.

THR is reporting that Nolan, after hearing pleas from fans and particularly Warner Bros. studio, has decided that he will be changing the sound mix with regards to Bane’s sequences, but only slightly.

The extended prologue for The Dark Knight Rises was recently released in front of IMAX screenings Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol and Tom Hardy’s Bane is featured in the sequence.

After a huge amount of complaints on Twitter for both the prologue and the trailer, one would imagine that hearing that Nolan will remix the sound is great news, right? But it might not be, as Nolan doesn’t seem to want to change it all that much and audiences might still have an issue once the film is released next July.

THR reports that Nolan told them that it’s “OK for a moviegoer not to understand what was said at times, as long as the overall idea was conveyed.”

I honestly think that this is almost a non-issue. The character’s dialogue did come off as a bit muffled, but it isn’t incomprehensible. One would imagine that the apparatus that the character is wearing wouldn’t make speaking the easiest thing ever, so it may be far more realistic to have his voice a bit muffled. Or, maybe its just a poorly mixed trailer. There’s also the issue of the sound quality in a particular movie theater, as some people on Twitter have said they could hear Bane’s dialogue just fine.

What do you think?

  1. Honestly I think that altering his voice would hinder the character they are trying to convey to the audience. Sure it can be unclear at times, but that’s the character. He should keep it the way it is.
